2013 Doll Resolutions

I really failed at getting around to making resolutions this year! It’s halfway over already!

I guess that’s okay–because I haven’t made any progress on the things I initially thought I would aim towards, and I’ve changed my mind several times. Whoops. It’s been an interesting doll year so far! I’ve got quite a few things that I need to write about!

In the meantime, here are my current doll resolutions. I’m not going to bother yet with the things I might have considered and abandoned already. XD Continue reading »

2012 Doll Resolutions

I didn’t quite get around to crossing everything off of my list of doll-related resolutions for 2012, although I feel like I made good progress. The two that I did not complete in 2011, a faceup for Mimi and a couch for the dolls, were mostly left off due to budgetary constraints. I entered the Volks lottery to purchase a new doll, Dollfie Dream Sister Ms. Mariko and thus allocated funds towards the doll purchase instead of towards a faceup and couch. (I’ll be posting about Ms. Mariko soon; I’m so very excited!) Continue reading »

2010 FCS Milk Tea Omukae

On various doll forums that I frequent, my username is typically “milkytea.” In 2010, “milk tea” was the theme for Volks’ full-choice system welcoming (omukae) outfits. I adored those outfits the moment that I saw them–they’re ruffled, old-fashioned, and in muted tones of ivory, dusty rose, and chocolate brown. I liked the outfits so much that at times I imagined ordering a full-choice doll just to keep the outfit. I kept my eyes open for an FCS split where I could chip in for the outfit, but none were available during the times I would check. Continue reading »

2011 Doll Resolutions

I’ve set a few goals for this year that are specifically related to my dolls. There are things that I really like about my dolls, and things that really frustrate me about my dolls. I’m aiming to take care of the things that really frustrate me so that I can overall enjoy my dolls much more~ Sometimes it’s tempting to alleviate those kinds of feelings by purchasing new dolls, but that is not what I want to do. Mi-chan Musings and Dolpa Excitement

As Dolpa gets closer and closer, I get more and more excited! It’s amazing to think that it’s only about a week and a half away~ ♥ I wish I had more spending money, but since I’m not buying another doll I’m not really all that concerned. I should have enough for new clothes and such for my girl. Even if I can’t get everything that catches my eye, it won’t be the end of the world! I don’t need to own these things, really. They’re just fun. Nothing ever entices me with as strong of a hold as, say, lolita fashion. And this is nothing compared to my My Little Pony sprint a few years ago. That was madness! Blooming Leila in My Heart

Things I know, with utter certainty, that I shouldn’t be doing: looking at other dolls. I don’t do nearly enough with my little Claire (although we’ll both be at Dolpa soon~) and I still cling to my Nono dream. Additionally, a Mi-chan will be coming home with me when we return from the event.

But sometimes, other dolls are so tempting! Continue reading »

Dolpa Registration–Mi-chan Selected!

I finally registered for VolksDoll’s Party in New York 4! It took me forever to make up my mind. I was starting to worry that I would miss the deadline and wind up in New York without actually being able to attend. (Although there’s still a chance that the tickets will have to be a lottery, so I am hoping that doesn’t happen so no-one who registered will have to miss out on the event.) I kept waffling between taking the workshop, not taking the workshop, taking the workshop and getting a doll, taking the workshop and getting a head, taking the workshop and not buying the materials for it, and so forth endlessly on and on! My poor husband bore the brunt of this indecision, but he tried his fuzzy-bunny-best to help me out. ♥ I think it would have been much rougher without his input. Continue reading »

Repair for Claire

Poor, poor Claire hadn’t spent much time out of her box last month. Earlier in the month, while idling around, I changed her wig–and when I did so, the “schpitt” magnet system in her head was damaged. Although she hasn’t been in my possession very long and was previously un-opened, Nagisa in Preschool was released on March 18, 2007. It seems that the glue holding the metal washer in place at the top of her head aged; I removed the wig, set it aside, and while she was untouched her headcap slipped off. When I picked it up, I saw that the metal washer was attached to the magnet in the headcap, not to her head. Continue reading »
