2010 FCS Milk Tea Omukae

On various doll forums that I frequent, my username is typically “milkytea.” In 2010, “milk tea” was the theme for Volks’ full-choice system welcoming (omukae) outfits. I adored those outfits the moment that I saw them–they’re ruffled, old-fashioned, and in muted tones of ivory, dusty rose, and chocolate brown. I liked the outfits so much that at times I imagined ordering a full-choice doll just to keep the outfit. I kept my eyes open for an FCS split where I could chip in for the outfit, but none were available during the times I would check. Continue reading »

Mi-chan Musings and Dolpa Excitement

As Dolpa gets closer and closer, I get more and more excited! It’s amazing to think that it’s only about a week and a half away~ ♥ I wish I had more spending money, but since I’m not buying another doll I’m not really all that concerned. I should have enough for new clothes and such for my girl. Even if I can’t get everything that catches my eye, it won’t be the end of the world! I don’t need to own these things, really. They’re just fun. Nothing ever entices me with as strong of a hold as, say, lolita fashion. And this is nothing compared to my My Little Pony sprint a few years ago. That was madness! Volks USA Review

It’s official–I love ordering from Volks USA! Their process is so well-automated and smooth. I like the automated emails, easy to understand shopping cart system, and the way tracking is integrated into the order status. It’s never a hassle, but whenever I have had to contact the company directly they’re so polite and prompt. Continue reading »

Nono’s Treasure Chest

My constant yearning for a Volks Super Dollfie Nono isn’t merely a sigh, a dream, and a fond glance. I am certain that eventually I will buy one of these lovely dolls…especially because I have started doing something it is not a very good thing to do. I’m amassing. Little by little, I’m purchasing things that aren’t suited for Claire and weren’t suited for Claudia–things that are perfect for a Volks Super Dollfie girl. Continue reading »

Here Comes Christmas

I really want to be contented and have a doll I can enjoy.) It was nice that I didn’t have to spoil her all on my own, though!

When it comes to Christmas presents, my mother is a let-me-find-the-perfect-thing-with-hard-work-and-love kind of giver, while my father is a tell-me-what-you-want-and-where-to-buy-it kind of giver. This means that I never really know what I’m getting from my mother, regardless of hints I might drop, but that I better not tell her what I’ve outlined for my father, or I risk duplicates. However, items requested from my father are not 100% set in stone–sometimes he likes to try his hand at getting creative while other times the items in question are out of stock and he substitutes. This year, I asked my father for some items from Volks USA–the website is easy to order from, so I knew it wouldn’t be too much of a problem as long as things were still in stock. Continue reading »

Clothing Challenges

Lately I almost find myself wanting another doll out of sheer frustration at the lack of adorable clothing for the Volks Mini Super Dollfie size. Although Volks themselves makes some gorgeous, adorable outfits–in fact there are several that I am quite enamored with for the current Dolpa 22–there isn’t always wide availability. Most outfits are limited in some way; perhaps if not in release, then in overall distribution. I can’t always find what I’m looking for on the website. Continue reading »

Spoiled Little Doll

Claire has been with us for only about a week at this point, and I just can’t keep myself from spoiling her! I like knowing that I can dress her up in whatever I think is cute and she won’t complain or ruin her clothes. I’ve been hearing some suggestions that wanting a doll that’s like a little girl is like wanting a child, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! Continue reading »

Oh That Waiting Game

While waiting for my auction to arrive to and be shipped from Crescent Shop, I’ve been completely fixated on dolls and doll accessories. I’ve browsed the wig section of every major ball-jointed doll retailer. I’ve overloaded my internet browser with tab after tab of meticulously photographed doll outfits…most of which are out of stock anyway. I’ve scrutinized the measurements of every “MSD”-sized shoe, wondering which would fit on my incoming doll’s chubby little feet. My person suffered through discussion after discussion about the “right” kind of items for the doll who wasn’t even in transit yet. Continue reading »

Special Delivery

Special Uniform [6]
Originally uploaded by sweetmilktea

Yesterday Claudia and I received a very special package from Rosette Doll. In early March, just a bit past Valentine’s Day, I had ordered a clothing set from the company. They posted a cute story about festivities that occur at the school during Valentine’s Day, from the usual chocolate gift-giving to a special celebration for the principal’s birthday.

To celebrate this occasion, the students wear a special uniform in a rich chocolate-brown shade. This was the first outfit offered for sale on the company’s website, and I was very eager to own another outfit that I knew would perfectly fit my doll’s odd proportions. It also was in my favor that I adore dark brown–especially because the style of the drop-waisted sailor uniform looks especially nice in a darker color. The pale trim on the skirt, collar, and sleeves shows up for a striking contrast. I placed the order and waited.

And waited. Continue reading »
